Please join us on 3 and 4 December 2011 for a RHoK hackathon in Pretoria, the first time in South Africa.

Hacking for Humanity

Random Hacks of Kindness is a global event happening twice a year at which programmers gather for one weekend in different locations all over the world and develop solutions to make the World a better place. At the beginning of this weekend the participants will split up in different teams to tackle very specific challenges that are set by Subject Matter Experts (usually representatives of different charities & NGO's).

Issues dealt with at last RHoKs are: A mapping system for field workers in disaster situations, an application to crowdsource the coordinates of bushfires in Australia, an education program for autistic children and many more. (For more information see rhok.org<http://rhok.org>)

At the end of the weekend, we'll invite you to share your RHoK application with the group with the potential to win prizes and see your work put to use on the ground to save lives and alleviate suffering.

What Do I Need?

We will provide facilities, power, food and refreshments to help you write your application. Just bring your laptop, ideas, and enthusiasm to complete the mix. No costs for you.

When and Where?

The Pretoria hackathon will take place from Saturday, December 3rd at 09:00am until Sunday, December 4th at 04:00pm. It will be held at the Offices of SAP Research. Space is limited so sign up now at the provided link.
