Ms Fasan receives Google Scholarship

Oluwasola Fasan, a PhD Student in the the Department of Computer Science receives a 2012 Google EMEA Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to female Bachelors, Masters, and PhD students on the basis of their academic performance, leadership experience and demonstrated passion for computer science. It includes a €7,000 prize and a 4 day networking retreat to be held from 17-20 June 2012 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Ms Fasan, also known as Mary, is a PhD Student in Professor Olivier's ICSA research group. ICSA stands for Computer and Information Security with specific reference to Distributed Systems Security and Privacy. She originally comes from the Ondo state in Nigeria. After obtaining a bachelors degree in Mathematical Science (Computer Science Option) in Nigeria she continued with post-graduate studies in the mathematical sciences at the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) at the University of Cape Town and subsequently completed an MSc degree in computer science at the University of Stellenbosch.

The department wishes Ms Fasan all the best for her scholarship.
